Reflection

The final standard is all about professional growth and leadership.  Because of this standard and the University of Southern Mississippi I have been given the opportunities to grow and lead that I otherwise would not have been yielded.

My first artifact is the Jones County School District's Dreamweaver School Website help guide.  After I created the Powerschool Wix site (that we now use for New Teacher Orientation district-wide), I was asked to create other means of help for the district to provide.  This document is one of them.  Each school has its on site powered by Dreamweaver and this artifact is just a small guide.

The next 3 pictures below that are examples of learning communities, leadership, and growth in the teaching profession.  Because of USM, I was able to meet and learn under Dr. Diane Fisher.  My first year after graduation and first year of teaching, she called about nominating me as an officer for the Mississippi Business Education Association.  I gladly accepted and so in my very first year of teaching I was now on the Executive Board of MBEA.  Since then, I have gone on to serve as the Board Treasurer, attended the NBEA conference in Chicago, become a member of the International Chapter (ISBE), and was last year's MBEA Rookie Business Teacher of the Year.

The next artifact is my REF 601 research paper in which I worked with two other teachers from different areas in our state.  We worked with school test coordinators, administrators and teachers to learn and research about student readiness on state mandated test.

The last artifact is another Wix site that was created to show my outlook over the next 15 years, my teaching philosophy, and my personal resume.  This is an electronic display and something that could be used in the professional setting during professional presentations as an introduction.

Future Learning Goals
It is such a joy to be around other professionals in your same profession with the same goals and the same obstacles.  I hope to continue to be a part of professional organizations to not only help others but to also learn from others to incorporate into my own classroom.
